When my son was born, two years ago, I was under the impression, that he was this tiny, weak, little creature, in desperate need of my invaluable knowledge and life skills.
Little did I know, that he would soon become my greatest mentor and ultimate life coach. True Story.
You see, up until then, a typical day for me would be to wake up early, go through as many house chores as possible, go to work in a rush, come back home exhausted and then a couple more chores and off to bed.
Yes, that was my life, I admit it. And at the time it didn't feel quite as bad as it sounds now...
And then came baby...

For Alex, everyday is a big adventure, from the moment he wakes up, till the moment he is ready to go back to bed, he is constantly paying attention to everything that goes on around him, always discovering something new, always taking his time to master things, never being afraid of trying new things, never holding back when meeting new people, always curious about every little detail...
Yes, my two-year-old son, is my positivity superstar!
So, here are the 3 life hacks, I learned from Alex's and I will one day, pass on to him, as my very own, hard-learned life lessons (shhhhhh)!
Overcome your Fear of Failure. Who said you need to get everything right, from the beginning? We don't start out in life perfectly speaking 3 languages or writing the most inspiring, self-development blog posts (see where this is going?), but we can work our way up to those things, by taking one step at a time. Do not let your fear stop you before you even begin to try. Alex has fallen flat on his face more than a thousand times, before he could finally master those 3-4 baby steps in a row. And yet, here he is today, running around the house like a professional sprinter.
Enjoy Your Life Everyday. Life is full of wonders, usually hidden in small everyday details. Look for them, embrace them and enjoy your life, today. You don't have to close a multimillion dollar business deal, in order to be happy. In James Cameron's Avatar, men were going above and beyond to get a rare substance called Unobtainium. Are you one of those men? Never happy with what you have, always looking for something you cannot currently call your own? I know my Unobtainioum, used to be Happiness, but now, I chose happiness every day, I look for it and I find it in the smiley face of my son, in the warm embrace of my husband, in the sparkling eyes of my friends, in my peaceful meditating moments. Look for yours today.
Think Outside the Box. In the eyes of a child anything goes. A laundry detergent cap is a great bathroom toy, pots and pans are excellent drum sets, a castle is hidden underneath your dining table, really, anything goes! I am still amazed by the many, almost mystical ways, in which Alex, is experiencing everything around him. All those things, I normally wouldn't pay any attention to. Not any more thought. Now I joined in the fun, I challenge myself to be creative every day. I look things, as if for the first time. What would I pair this dress with, if I were an astronaut? What would Cinderella do? Talk about creative thinking!
Most of all, Alex is teaching me everyday, that happiness is attainable and for that I am grateful.
So,what life lessons have you learned from your children?
Do tell, I would love to hear your stories.
Much Love,
Nichole
