Lately, I’ve been working with women solo-preneurs, supporting them in creating viable businesses out of their passions or current side hobbies. Think of it as a business consulting service and a spiritual retreat, all wrapped into one. Yeah, it's that awesome! | |
But it’s not all rainbow confetti and pink unicorns when it comes to building and running your own business. Well, not always, anyway!
1. You’re the best
Yeah, you heard me loud and clear. You are the most important person in your life. YOU. Not your friends, not your spouse, not your kids, not your family, it is you. And what that means is that the only person that can make a true difference in your life, is YOU. So, you need to be compassionate and nice to yourself. You have done everything in life to the best of your ability and sooner or later, you will reap the benefits. Everyone is entitled to making mistakes and nobody’s perfect.
2. Mind your words
Stop torturing yourself with all those “must do’s”, “have to’s” and “should do’s”; which are bringing you down, demoralizing you, eventually breaking your self-confidence. Change your words. Say “I wish to”, “I would love to” or “I really-REALLY want to”, trigger a positive emotion, whenever you talk about your plans. Give them life, transform each task ahead, from an obligation to something you actually look forward to, simply by changing your words.
3. Ask yourself Better Questions
Instead of “why is my life such a mess?” ask something like “where did I go wrong here?” or “How do I fix this?”. Replace the your “why” questions with “what”, “where” and “how”. Make your questions empowering, focus on finding solutions rather than merely repeating the problem in the form of a question.
4. The Power of “Not Yet”
Remember, nothing is impossible; so do not tell yourself that you can’t do something. For example, if you start your month off saying “I can’t increase my sales by 30% this month, it’s impossible” your unconscious is led to believe that it is a certainty and a fact; that you will not achieve your goal, when in reality it is totally possible. If you think you are not ready for something, just use ‘yet’. For instance; “I am not ready to increase sales by 30% YET”. Using the word yet does 2 things. Number one, you are not programming yourself to fail and number two, you are being inspired to make it happen in the future.
And finally,
5. Just Say No
In life you can do anything you want to but you cannot do everything. Not at once, anyways. So, when you are over your head working on what’s important to you and people come to you with all sorts of requests, just say No. I am not suggesting you shouldn't be helpful whenever you feel like it, I am just saying that it should be YOUR choice to do so and not burn yourself out, trying to please everyone that comes to you with a request. So, learn to gracefully and politely refuse to say yes to things you don’t have time for.
Now I just got to ask you.
