Forgive Yourself: Stop abusing yourself with guilt and resentment. Let go of all the pain you carry with you from the past and accept the fact that you are human and you make mistakes, just like everyone else. Forgiving yourself is such a big piece of the puzzle when creating a happy life, do not overlook it. Practice self compassion and see yourself as the wonderful, loving person that you are.
Practice Gratitude: Gratitude is a powerful tool to use when you need to feel better, in a short period of time. Our minds can only entertain one thought at a time and so, when you focus your attention on being grateful for all the blessings in you life, no matter how small they may seem at the moment, you are actually shutting the door to all the negative thoughts and feelings that have been bothering you and shift your attitude from negative to positive! Ta-DA!
Laugh: Have you ever noticed how a few laughs and giggles can make you feel amazing? Laughter has a powerful positive effect on both body and spirit and can lift you up in just seconds when you are feeling down. So, what are you waiting for, go for it! Happiness has many sources and laughter is one of the greatest! You smile, you laugh and you are happy in just seconds!
Use Positive Affirmations: Affirmations can be extremely helpful in cultivating a positive mental attitude towards life and creating a mindset of happiness. It doesn't work overnight but it does work wonders combined with your determination to become a happier individual. Simply choose a positive affirmation that feels right to you, such as "I design my life around my dreams and passions, around happiness and purpose. I love my life" and make a daily habit of repeating it with feeling and conviction and notice the difference in your life.
Act on it: If you don't like something about your life, or yourself, please remember that you are the only one who has the power to change it. Don't just sit there wishing it were different. Work on it, change it, make it better. Just because things are how they are, doesn't mean they have to stay that way forever. You can change them and if you can't then simply accept them and move on. But don't stop there either, if there anything that you do like in your life or self, create more of it, fill your days with it, embrace it and just be happy!
