Stay Motivated and Transform Your Life, One Day at a Time | Nichole's 5 Tips on Keeping Yourself Motivated

Keep yourself motivated. | Bridge the gap between where you are and where you want to be.

Last week talked about new beginnings and how perceiving every new day as an opportunity to start fresh and new, can help us get closer to what we really want in life.

So here we are now, full of enthusiasm, ready to wholeheartedly embrace change and take our lives to the next level.
ay hits you in the face and the world is not full of rainbows and sunshine, anymore. What now?

That's where motivation comes into play.

The secret behind every blissfully happy and successful person in the world is motivation.

So, no matter what it is that you so passionately just started working on, whether it's a diet or a new book, a change in your career or a new college degree (like moi), you need to keep yourself motivated, on a daily basis.

Use these 5 Tips to keep yourself motivated

  1. Break your ultimate goal, into smaller, bite-sized ones. Having one big goal to achieve and everything depending on it, can cause a lot of stress, but setting smaller ones that lead up to your ultimate goal will lift the pressure off your shoulders and keep you motivated as you reach each and every one of them, boosting your self confidence.

  2. Work towards your goals EVERY day. No excuses. Just as keeping your body healthy (and alive!) requires that you set at least a few minutes a day to eat, so is with your goals. You need to care for them every day, even for a few minutes, in order to keep them alive. Remember consistency, rather than speed, is the key to achieving your dreams.

  3. Create and use positive affirmations. Change comes gradually but affirming your goals, daily, as already realised will not only keep you motivated but it will also provide you with a small taste of how great you are going to feel, once you have that corner office or that perfectly fit body.

  4. Keep it interesting and fun. It has been proven that people who enjoy what they do are more likely to stay motivated and succeed. So, ask yourself “what can I do, today, to make this more fun?” If you are trying to motivate yourself to lose weight you might try creating an exercise routine around a dance or with upbeat music.

  5. Celebrate ALL wins. Achievement is a huge self-motivator for most people but many of us have difficulties acknowledging them, in our daily lives. So, while working towards your ultimate goal, take a few minutes a day to celebrate at least one win, even if it only by telling yourself “well done”. Build those success muscles every day.

So, how do you keep yourself motivated?

That's also a great way to commit yourself more to a goal, Leo. That's exactly what a great life coach will do too. Hold you accountable to yourself and your goals.

Hi Nickole and thanks for sharing the Motivation Spirit with us!

Since I remember myself, my life was full of Goals! Little ones and of coarse… big ones…! Some have been achieved through time … and some just not yet.

Through all this process of going after our goals, everyone has once experienced the feeling of disappointment and this is inevitable I’m afraid, because we can’t have it all! But as long as we think positive, be optimistic and motivated…. in the end the goals which really matter to us, will be a reality :)

Hello El and thank you for taking the time to comment here.

I have been struggling with motivation for years and have even gone as far as secretly calling my self a quitter (talk about self-sabotaging!).

I now understand that not all goals are equally important, not all goals were mine to achieve (yes, I grew up with the urge to keep everyone happy and proud of me) and that I do have the right to change my mind and life course whenever I feel it necessary.
All in all, it's just like you said, when something is really important to you, you will eventually find a way to get there.

Hello Megan! So, nice to have you here!
We all struggle with motivation from time to time. Well, I know I do!
I am glad that you feel encouraged to go out there and give it a shot and while you are at it I suggest finding a goal setting and follow-through buddy. Someone to keep you on track!
It has worked wonders for me :)

I've found in the past that success motivates me :) No surprise there, huh?!? In other words; if the work I'm doing turns out really well, and/or is appreciated/makes money, it's not so hard to remain motivated. If non of the above are present, then it takes some persistence and focus on what's important and why you're really doing it.
