Keep yourself motivated. | Bridge the gap between where you are and where you want to be.
Last week talked about new beginnings and how perceiving every new day as an opportunity to start fresh and new, can help us get closer to what we really want in life.
So here we are now, full of enthusiasm, ready to wholeheartedly embrace change and take our lives to the next level.
ay hits you in the face and the world is not full of rainbows and sunshine, anymore. What now?
That's where motivation comes into play.
So, no matter what it is that you so passionately just started working on, whether it's a diet or a new book, a change in your career or a new college degree (like moi), you need to keep yourself motivated, on a daily basis.
Use these 5 Tips to keep yourself motivated
- Break your ultimate goal, into smaller, bite-sized ones. Having one big goal to achieve and everything depending on it, can cause a lot of stress, but setting smaller ones that lead up to your ultimate goal will lift the pressure off your shoulders and keep you motivated as you reach each and every one of them, boosting your self confidence.
- Work towards your goals EVERY day. No excuses. Just as keeping your body healthy (and alive!) requires that you set at least a few minutes a day to eat, so is with your goals. You need to care for them every day, even for a few minutes, in order to keep them alive. Remember consistency, rather than speed, is the key to achieving your dreams.
- Create and use positive affirmations. Change comes gradually but affirming your goals, daily, as already realised will not only keep you motivated but it will also provide you with a small taste of how great you are going to feel, once you have that corner office or that perfectly fit body.
- Keep it interesting and fun. It has been proven that people who enjoy what they do are more likely to stay motivated and succeed. So, ask yourself “what can I do, today, to make this more fun?” If you are trying to motivate yourself to lose weight you might try creating an exercise routine around a dance or with upbeat music.
- Celebrate ALL wins. Achievement is a huge self-motivator for most people but many of us have difficulties acknowledging them, in our daily lives. So, while working towards your ultimate goal, take a few minutes a day to celebrate at least one win, even if it only by telling yourself “well done”. Build those success muscles every day.
